The Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF) is grateful to the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport for the $185,000 in funding received through the Reconnect Ontario grant. The funding was announced on October 28, during a special event in WIFF alley.

Returning after a two-year hiatus, WIFF is back and bigger than ever with an impressive slate totalling 177 feature films and more than 300 screenings.

“Our government is pleased to support the Windsor International Film Festival, which showcases a diverse selection of films from Ontario and around the world,” said Neil Lumsden, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. “I encourage Ontarians from every part of the province to attend this unique festival and discover your new favourite film. Those who stay overnight can claim up to 20 percent of eligible travel accommodation expenses through our Ontario Staycation Tax Credit.”

“Through its diverse programming and a devoted commitment to film education, WIFF serves as a key cultural destination in our community’s vibrant arts and culture space,” said Andrew Dowie, MPP for Windsor-Tecumseh. “Through the Reconnect Ontario program, I’m thrilled that our government is supporting WIFF’s highly anticipated in-person return as a nationally recognized and industry-leading organization. I truly look forward to taking in some great films again this year together with WIFF’s attendees from Windsor-Essex and beyond.”

“Everyone loves good films and the Windsor International Film Festival has been delivering them year after year,” said Anthony Leardi, MPP for Essex. “This festival just keeps getting better. This funding is crucial in supporting WIFF’s return to an annual Fall Festival, allowing for expansions in programming and festival dates. WIFF is thankful to the Ministry for their continuous support in elevating the Tourism and Culture industries in Windsor.

The 2022 festival will run from Thursday, October 27 to Sunday, November 6, 2022, WIFF’s first-ever 11-day festival. The 2022 festival is proudly presented by the Toldo Foundation.
