Read MoreThis weekend, let us all take a moment to look back on 2022 and celebrate the beginning of the new year. Cheers to all of the great films that we were able to enjoy this year. We can’t wait for what 2023 has in store for the big screen. Take some time to check out our recommendations this weekend.
Vincent Georgie: A stylish crime caper with an all-star cast of old Hollywood legends? Pour yourself a cocktail on the rocks and enjoy
Synopsis: Danny Ocean calls on some of his World War II buddies — including Jimmy Foster, Sam Harmon and Josh Howard — to pull off an elaborate New Year’s Eve heist at five casinos in Las Vegas. Eleven members of Danny’s crew come together to pull off a perfect robbery, but they suffer a series of setbacks when Duke Santos, a former gangster, tries to thwart Ocean’s plans to disappear with the money.
Vincent Georgie: The film starts and finishes on NYE, and takes us through the hilarious and frequently relatable travails of someone attempting to achieve their goals to widely varying results. Zellweger is perfect in the film.
Synopsis: At the start of the New Year, 32-year-old Bridget decides it’s time to take control of her life — and start keeping a diary. Now, the most provocative, erotic and hysterical book on her bedside table is the one she’s writing. With a taste for adventure and an opinion on every subject – from exercise to men to food to sex and everything in between – she’s turning the page on a whole new life.
Vincent Georgie: It’s hard to believe that this film is now 30 years old, but it has endured as an all-time achievement for romantic comedies because of the wonderfully appealing leads, clever writing and optimistic take on life and love. Take a bow, Nora Ephron.
Synopsis: After the death of his wife, Sam Baldwin moves to Seattle with his son, Jonah. When Jonah calls in to a talk radio program to find a new wife for his father, Sam grudgingly gets on the line to discuss his feelings. Annie Reed, a reporter in Baltimore, hears Sam speak and falls for him, even though she is engaged. Unsure where it will lead, she writes Sam a letter asking him to meet her at the Empire State Building on Valentine’s Day.
Rian Johnson’s unexpected smash hit KNIVES OUT assembled an aces cast, anchored in a stylish and entertaining “who dunnit?” And for the rare time where we can be thankful for the birth of a franchise, the next instalment is actually quite a bit better than the original.
The circumstances surrounding the death of crime novelist Harlan Thrombey are mysterious, but there’s one thing that renowned Detective Benoit Blanc knows for sure — everyone in the wildly dysfunctional Thrombey family is a suspect. Now, Blanc must sift through a web of lies and red herrings to uncover the truth.
Tech billionaire Miles Bron invites his friends for a getaway on his private Greek island. When someone turns up dead, Detective Benoit Blanc is put on the case.
