(October 27, 2023) WINDSOR, Ont. — The Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF) is grateful to the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, the Francophone Community Grants and the Ontario Trillium Foundation for grants totalling $276,580 in funding. The funding was announced on October 27, during a special event in WIFF alley.
Over the next 10 days WIFF is proud to be presenting over 180 feature films, including award winners and future Oscar contenders. The 2023 Festival slate also features 19 local projects including the new feature film from Nicholas Shields, Depraved Mind.
“The Windsor International Film Festival is a critical part of the arts infrastructure of Windsor / Essex and on behalf of the Ontario government I am excited to be able to announce this funding” said Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie. “This funding will not only help to support this year’s festival but will also ensure the future of the festival by supporting its operation so that it can continue to grow and serve our community.”
This funding is crucial in WIFF’s growth and sustainability, creating opportunity to bring great films and talent from across Canada and internationally to Windsor. WIFF is thankful to Province for their continuous support in elevating francophone initiatives and the tourism and culture industries in Windsor.
“WIFF is proud to be a tourism and economic impact driver in our region. This support enables us to grow and enhance the Festival for our loyal and large audience,” says Vincent Georgie, Executive Director and Chief Programmer of WIFF. “Our sincere thanks to the Province, and we look forward to welcoming film lovers from across Ontario, across Canada and abroad.”
The 2023 Festival will run from Thursday, October 26 to Sunday, November 5, 2023. The 2023 festival is proudly presented by the Toldo Foundation.
