The 2023 Oscar Winners 

It’s the morning after the Academy Awards, and we’re still reeling from the exciting evening of celebrating film. Everything Everywhere All At Once dominated the awards with record breaking winnings across 7 awards including Best Picture. A couple of WIFF 2022 also received recognition during the ceremony. All Quiet on the Western Front won 4 out of it’s potential 9 awards, including Best International Film. WIFF’s LiUNA People’s Choice Winner, Women Talking was awarded Best Adapted Screenplay.

Another Canadian win was Daniel Roher’s Navalny, which won Best Documentary Feature. The Toronto-born director’s previous film Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and the Band was a favourite of WIFF 2019 and presented as the Closing Night Film.
