This morning the 96th Oscar nominees were announced in a live broadcast hosted by Jack Quaid and Zazie Beetz. Leading the pack with 13 nominations is the summer blockbuster Oppenheimer. Following close behind with 11 and 10 nominations are Poor Things and Killers of the Flower Moon, respectively.
WIFF Prize in Canadian film alum To Kill a Tiger, directed by Nisha Pahuja, was nominated for Best Documentary. Pahuja was in attendance at WIFF in 2022 as a nominee.
Overall, WIFF films earned 31 nominations this morning – 10 nominations for films presented throughout the year with WIFF Presents and 21 nominations for official selections of the Festival.
