The Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF) is grateful to Windsor Port Authority for establishing a 3-year partnership. The funding is supporting technological upgrades in the Pentastar Theatre, one of two theatre spaces in the historical Capitol Theatre. New sound and visual equipment will ensure that WIFF patrons are experiencing top-of-the-line film screenings while attending the festival.

“Windsor Port Authority is thrilled to establish a partnership with WIFF in their anniversary year. We are pleased to be able to support their technological sustainability through the purchasing of new equipment, including a new laser projector,” says Steven Salmons, President and CEO, Windsor Port Authority. “Through supporting cultural events and organizations like WIFF, we are promoting and encouraging economic growth in the Windsor-Essex.”

“For 20 years, WIFF has taken pride in offering exceptional film experiences, and it is only with the support of our partners like Windsor Port Authority that we are able to continue to grow and improve on those experiences,” said Vincent Georgie, Executive Director and Chief Programmer for WIFF. “See you at WIFF 2024, with incredible new sound and visuals.”

The 2024 festival will run from Thursday, October 24 to Sunday, November 3. The 2024 festival is proudly presented by the Toldo Foundation.

Windsor port authority

Ontario’s third largest port, each year the Port Authority receives more than 600 ships, delivering more than 4 million tonnes of aggregate, salt, steel and grain to Windsor-Essex, ports across the Great Lakes, and into Europe. It also hosts Ontario’s largest ship fueling depot.

Each day, 1,000 people come to work in Port Windsor, and another 1,400 jobs depend upon activities of this port. Wages total more than $50 million annually, in addition to local purchases of goods and services in excess of $50 million.

The Windsor Port Authority is a federal Corporation under the Marine Act (1999) as one of just 17 national ports established to promote the growth, competitiveness and prosperity of Canada’s economy.
