if you want an uplifting story

unstoppable

Vincent Georgie: Produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, this incredible true story is a cut above similar sports dramas thanks to the emotional appeal of the story and to the convincing lead performance by rising star Jharrel Jerome. A starry supporting cast and crucial visual effects add to the strengths of the film. We were delighted to bring this film to WIFF 2024 back in the Fall. 

Synopsis: Born with one leg, Anthony Robles defies expectations to become a champion wrestler in college, competing against the very school that rejected him.

Vincent Georgie: Nominated for 6 Oscars including Best Picture, this Mel Gibson-directed war drama is the type of prestigious but appealing studio drama that no longer gets made very often. Andrew Garfield is ideal in the starring role. A very technically well-made war drama, thanks to its engaging story. 

The true story of Pfc. Desmond T. Doss (Andrew Garfield), who won the Congressional Medal of Honor despite refusing to bear arms during WWII on religious grounds. Doss was drafted and ostracized by fellow soldiers for his pacifist stance but went on to earn respect and adoration for his bravery, selflessness and compassion after he risked his life — without firing a shot — to save 75 men in the Battle of Okinawa.

Vincent Georgie: A soaring, uplifting family drama. Oscar Winner for Best International Feature of 1990.

Vincent Georgie: Two films that were major hits at WIFF 2024 have now scooped up major Oscar nomination hauls. Be ready for Oscar night by making sure you have seen both of these entertaining, incredibly well-acted, and memorable films. Both are must-see hits. Stars Mikey Madison and Ralph Fiennes are both frontrunners for Best Actress and Best Actor, respectively.

Anora, a young woman from Brooklyn, gets her chance at a Cinderella story when she meets and marries the son of an oligarch. Once the news reaches Russia, her fairytale is threatened as the parents set out for New York to get the marriage annulled.
