black box

Black Box crafts a taut, suspenseful intrigue, unravelling the events behind a tragic incident in the aeronautics industry. Matthieu is a young and talented black box analyst on a mission to solve the reason behind the deadly crash of a brand-new aircraft. Yet, when the case is closed by authorities, Matthieu cannot help but sense there is something wrong with the evidence. As he listens to the tracks again, he detects some seriously disturbing details. Could the tape have been modified? Going against his boss’ orders, Matthieu begins his own rogue investigation — an obsessional and dangerous quest for the truth that will quickly threaten far more than his career. Progressively obsessed by inexplicable evidence that doesn’t add up, and spiralling further and further into the realm of paranoia, he gradually loses credibility at the BEA, the bureau that investigates aviation safety in France. So he’s forced to go rogue, risking his career and life, but determined to uncover the sordid truth.

a year in the forest

To Mike Evans, A Year in the Forest was a gift—a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore and discover the wildlife that surrounds us. He made discoveries that, under normal circumstances, he may never have had a chance to uncover without the pandemic.

He headed into a small patch of Old Growth Forest near his South Windsor home called Oakwood Bush, intending to photograph the Spring bird migration.

The global pandemic and the shutdown that accompanied it, allowed Evans more time. Time he would use wisely, not only to photograph the bird migration but also to film it over four seasons. Over the course of the year, he was able to chronicle critically endangered and rare species such as Fox Snakes, Coyotes, Tree Frogs, Giant Moths, Screech Owls and dozens more. He spent hours in the field filming and photographing nature in one of the most bio-diverse regions in all of Canada.

After the bombing of his family’s chocolate factory, Tareq Hadhad, a charming young Syrian refugee, struggles to settle into small-town life in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Despite moving to a new country, he’s intent on pursuing his dream to become a doctor. New challenges arise between a rival chocolatier, while the heartbreak of Tareq’s sister left behind in Syria weighs heavily on the family.
