The 97th Academy Awards Nominees

This morning the 97th Oscar nominees were announced in a live broadcast hosted by Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang. Leading the pack with 13 nominations is Netflix’s Emilia Pérez. Close behind, with 10 nominations each, are The Brutalist and Wicked.

The WIFF 2024 Closing Night Film, Conclave, received 8 nominations including Best Picture, and the 2024 LiUNA People’s Choice Award Winner, Anora, received 6 nominations including Best Picture.

Overall, WIFF films earned 33 nominations this morning – 3 nominations for films presented throughout the year with WIFF Presents and 30 nominations for official selections of the Festival. Plus, in February WIFF will be presenting screenings of the Oscar Nominated Shorts. Screening dates and times will be announced soon.
