This morning, the 13th Canadian Screen Award nominees were announced. WIFF 2024’s 40 Acres leads the nominations with 10 overall, followed closely by WIFF 2025 selections Follies and Honey Bunch, with 8 nominations each. The WIFF 2025 Opening Night Film, Mile End Kicks, directed by Chandler Levack, received 7 nominations.
Overall, official selections of WIFF earned 79 nominations across all categories. A number of nominations went to previous WIFF Prize in Canadian Film Nominees, including Compulsive Liar 2, The Cost of Heaven, In Cold Light, Lovely Day, Peak Everything, Two Women, Where Souls Go, and Really Happy Someday. Other WIFF films nominated this morning include Wrong Husband, Who by Fire, At the Place of Ghosts, Nika & Madison, Yunan, The Track, Modern Whore, Saints and Warriors, The Mother and the Bear, The Train, The Well, Fanny, Sweet Summer Pow Wow, Shifting Baselines, and There Are No Words.
