Windsor, Tuesday, November 27, 2012 — The Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF) today announced that Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano’s The Intouchables will be back at the Capitol Theatre on December 6th for two screenings.
Winner of WIFF’s People’s Choice Award, The Intouchables was the biggest title in the festival’s history, screening three times, with two added screenings, and bringing in over 1,000 audience members. Based on the true story of an unlikely odd couple, this uplifting and cheeky French comedy-drama won affection with its story of mismatched friendship, and the power of hope and trust to change people’s lives.
Philippe (François Cluzet) is a wealthy Parisian who can't cope with the way everyone condescends to him as a paraplegic, which makes hiring a full-time caregiver difficult. That is, until he interviews the inexperienced, petty criminal Driss (Omar Sy), who only applies for the job to satisfy a condition of his unemployment benefits. The growing friendship between the two men changes both of their lives, with Philippe becoming less depressive and demanding and Driss learning to take responsibility for his actions.
The Intouchables will screen at 6.15 pm and 8.45 pm on Thursday, December 6th at the Capitol Theatre. Tickets are $6 for students and $12 for adults and are available online at www.windsorfilmfestival.com or on the evening of the screening at the Capitol box-office.
